CZECH-SLOVAK MEETING TO CELEBRATE 20 YEARS OF NOVÁ SÍŤ

On November 6-9, the members meeting of the Czech Cultural Network Nová síť. It took place in Ostrava in collaboration with MOVE Ostrava. Organised on the occasion of Nová síť 20th anniversary, the event centred on international collaboration and the meeting with the Slovak network Anténa - sieť pre nezávislú kultúru.

WHAT WAS HAPPENING?!

Gathered in the inspiring environment of the City Gallery PLATO's Bauhaus, we engaged in networking, getting to know each other, and exploring various topics. We were introduced to the concept of the gallery by PLATO’s managing director Magda Luňáčková and dramaturg and curator Jakub Adamec, who also presented their current exhibition featuring works by laureates of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award. Daniela Zarodňanská, head of the City of Ostrava’s cultural department, welcomed us and offered an insight into local cultural events. Prospects for collaboration with regional organisations were presented by Studio ALTA’s executive director Lída Vacková and curator of performance and interdisciplinary projects Petr Dlouhý. Organisations interested in joining the Network presented their activities, and we ended the day with the celebration of the Network’s 20th anniversary.

The following days were dedicated to the themes of mobility and international collaboration, introduced by the head of the IDU’s Department of International Cooperation, Martina Pecková Černá, who presented, among other things, the planned activities of the PerformCzech. Speed Dating was next, offering an opportunity for organisations and their representatives from both the Slovak and Czech Networks to introduce themselves in a lively speedy manner. A tour of Ostrava's gems and places of independent culture was led by Vladimír Šmehlík and MOVE Ostrava. The meeting was concluded in Dolní Vítkovice with a tour of the Gong multifunctional hall led by the business director Martin Lindovský, and we could not miss the opportunity to check the amazing view from the Bolt Tower.

MORE ABOUT THE CZECH-SLOVAK MEETING

To celebrate Nová síť 20th anniversary, we arranged a joint encounter with the Slovak network Anténa - siet pre nezávislú kultúru. A sixteen-member delegation with representatives from important cultural centres from various corners of Slovakia attended the meeting, which turned out to be very beneficial for both parties. Thanks to Speed Dating and other networking activities, several interesting potential projects emerged, presented at the end of the meeting. The plan is to further develop and financially support these projects. At the end of the meeting participants also agreed on a need for a closer collaboration between the two networks and for another joint meeting that could be held in two years, this time in Slovakia.

NEWS AND CHANGES WITHIN THE NETWORK

We welcomed three new members in the Czech Cultural Network. Klub kultury Napajedla and Vzdělávací kulturní centrum Broumov joined the Stay Connected group, while Švestkový Dvůr joined the Cooperation Starts group.

Some changes took place among our current members as well. In spring, Sladovna Písek and Bohemia Farmstudio joined the Network Partners group. Unfortunately, the Luhovaný Vincent festival, which ended its activities this year, left the Network Partners group. Nevertheless, we are pleased that the association team remains in the Stay Connected group, and we look forward to learning about their new direction. We are thrilled to see the Network growing, with new members joining every year, leading to new inspiring encounters.

Thank you all very much for your participation and dedication, and we look forward to seeing you next time!
