NOVÁ SÍŤ IS GOING TO THE IETM MEETING IN AARHUS

Thanks to the support from the National Recovery Plan, a delegation consisting of representatives of the Nová síť organization and selected members of the Czech Cultural Network Nová síť will travel to the plenary meeting of the International Network For Contemporary Performing Arts (IETM) in Aarhus, Denmark, in June (11-14 June). Why is it important to attend such events? And what are the benefits?

IETM is one of the largest and oldest cultural networks, representing and bringing together more than 500 organisations and professionals working in the field of professional contemporary performing arts. Nová síť is one of the four member institutions for the Czech Republic.
IETM advocates the value of art and culture and provides professionals access to international contacts, knowledge. IETM is an unmistakable platform for the exchange of experiences. At meetings such as the plenary meeting in Aarhus, organisations, artists, promoters, festivals, residencies, cultural centres etc. have the opportunity to meet, network and address current issues and transfer the gained knowledge to their cultural environment.

The main theme of this year's meeting is the climate crisis with the aptly named "LIVING ON THE EDGE". The planned programme, full of workshops and seminars, will reflect on the ethical and practical role of performing arts and artists in the face of the climate crisis. To what extent could - and should - the arts be instrumental in the question of sustainability? What steps can we take as an international network? And what steps can we take as organisations?

In addition to the topics of creative residencies and running cultural centres of 21st century, the Czech delegation will also focus on live art and its importance and impact in rural areas.
